Frequently Asked Questions
Why hire a professional freelance writer?
It will save you time and money. You stay focused on your business – doing what you do best! A freelance writer works per project, concentrating on a specific job. You simply pay for a one-off project. No salaries or wages are involved.
What if my project is ongoing?
There are always options. Every job is weighed on its individual requirements. Flexibility is the name of the game. A project rate, be it a one-off fee, week-to-week or an hourly rate, can be negotiated. This is decided through consultation at the outset.
What does your fee cover?
An in-depth meeting (either face-to-face, or communication by phone, fax, overnight mail or email), reading and researching (if necessary), writing the copy, editing the copy, revising (if required) and liaising with the client through to a 100 per cent satisfactory conclusion.
Is there a set fee?
As every project is different and has its own specific requirements, fees differ accordingly. Realistic fees are clearly established at the outset of any project. Clear communication means there will be no hidden charges or surprises at the end.
When is payment due?
One half of the fee will usually be required upfront. The balance is to be paid on completion of the project. Hourly, per day or weekly rates are negotiated on an ‘as-needs’ basis.
How do I know you can fulfil my assignment?
Make sure you outline your needs and expectations. This will enable me to interpret your brief effectively. Ask to see more samples of my work. Ask for references. As the project evolves, I can supply drafts as required.
How do you communicate and deliver?
The usual way is via email, but again this is assessed according to a client’s needs and may include face-to-face meetings, phone calls and faxes.
What is your turnaround time?
This is usually dictated by a client’s deadline.
What qualities do you bring to the job?
Reliability, dependability, no ego (this is your work I am writing, not my own), friendly and helpful attitude and good communication skills.
